Armenian Genocide Commemoration
The 109th commemoration of the Armenian Genocide was held on April 19 at the Massachusetts State House in Boston, organized by the Armenian Genocide Commemorative Committee of Massachusetts and attended by around 300 people. The ceremony featured a procession of scouts, clergy, and dignitaries, the singing of American and Armenian anthems, the reading of a proclamation declaring April 24 as Armenian Genocide Commemoration Day in the Commonwealth, and a keynote address by Judge Gabrielle Wolohojian on the importance of law, memory, and civic service for genocide survivors’ descendants. The event also recognized 109-year-old survivor Mary Vartanian and honored the Armenian Tree Project for its efforts in planting millions of trees in Armenia.
